April 20, 2008
Fifth Sunday of Easter
The next Lutheran Holy Communion will be celebrated on May 18, 2008,
at our 8:30 a.m. worship service.
Bruce and Diana Hill have consented to be Heidelberg's delegates for
the 2008 synodical assembly, May 29–31, at Split Rock Lodge. This is
an important assembly because we will be electing a new bishop.
If you have been a volunteer at Heidelberg this past year, come to the
annual volunteer appreciation banquet at the New Tripoli Fire Company
on April 26, 2008. Social time is at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is at 6:45
p.m.
The Rite of Confirmation will be held at our 8:30 a.m. service on
May
11, 2008. As of the Church Council meeting of April 8, the following
confirmands will become adult members of Heidelberg Lutheran Church:
Andrew Afflerbach, Mackenzie Fegely, Kyle Greenawald, Meredith Handwerk,
Felisha Loveless, and Douglas Saks. The new confirmands will celebrate
their first Holy Communion on May 18, 2008.
If you know of a member who is graduating from high school, college,
or graduate school, please notify the parish secretary at
610-767-1526.
The Concert Handbell Choir will be presenting their annual spring bell
program on May 4 at 11:00. Please come and enjoy the beautiful and inspirational
music at this very special service of worship. Since this is a union
service, there will be only one worship service on that day.
At the special congregational meeting on April 6, the congregation voted
to sell the pewter flagon. The proceeds will be used for the financing
of the fellowship hall project. The final vote was 36–4. Both congregations
have voted to sell their respective flagons. As per the action of the
Lutheran congregation, any money received from the Lutheran sale over
and above the UCC sale will be deposited into the general Lutheran accounts.
Volunteers are needed to distribute food at the Northern Lehigh Food
Bank this month. A detailed sign-up sheet is located in the narthex.

jobs on fellowship hall. The committee reviewed the bids and selected

electrical. The treasurer reported the current operating funds are $22,
332.66 in the General fund and $30,000 in the Kitchen fund as of that
meeting. The next meeting is April 28 at
7:00 p.m., and the meeting
is open to all members.
